The ocean truly comes alive at night and nowhere is this more true than right here in South Australia! Port Jackson sharks, Blue Ringed Octopuses, Pygmy Cuttlefish, Bob Tail Squid, Giant Sea Slugs, Sea Horses and even the occasional Goblin Fish are just some of the amazing species that can all be found in our coastal waters at night!
Port Noarlunga Jetty and Reef in particular is a big favourite amongst local divers for night dives. Less than 30 minutes away from the Adelaide CBD this site is not only the most convenient and accessible dive site in South Australia, but also features all of the species mentioned along with a host of other critters that you can only find at night. As if that was not enough, it’s also one of the very few places on earth where, with a little patience and a lot of luck, you can spot the ever elusive and aptly named Goblin Fish!
Whether you’re looking for a little bit of excitement or just want to unwind after a hard day at work, a Guided Night Dive at the Port Noarlunga Jetty is the perfect way to end your day!
*Transport for up to 2 people per guide is included in the standard trip price. For bookings of 3 or 4 people, either own transport is required, or we will book in a second guide and allocate 2 company vans to the tour. The costs in that case will be $135 per person for 3 people or $119 per person for 4 people.
If you have never done a night dive before or if you’re feeling a little nervous, don’t worry! We’ll be diving the reef right next to the illuminated Port Noarlunga Jetty and the entry and exit point will be clearly marked for your first ever night dive!
You will be supplied with both a primary and a back up torch and your Divemaster or Instructor for the evening will do a thorough briefing to cover all the night diving protocols you need to know and will be with you every step, or kick, of the way!
Book a Guided Night Dive with one of the experienced and professional guides from Diving Adelaide today for a safe and exciting experience and discover some of the best diving that South Australia has to offer once the sun has gone down!
The guided night dives take a full evening and we run guided night dives every single day.
The guided night dives usually start at the dive centre. You will meet you dive guide for the night and fill out the required paperwork for the dive, get fitted for any rental gear (if required) and pack up the company van for the night.
Our prime night diving site (Port Noarlunga Jetty & Reef) is just 30 minutes down the road. We normally meet at the dive centre at 5PM and you will return to the dive centre between 9 and 10PM.
Our dive centre is located in Marleston, conveniently situated between the airport and the CBD.
Please don’t forget to bring your certification card.

This guided dive is for certified divers only. A minimum of PADI Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent) and recent diving experience (within the last 12 months) is required.
If you haven’t dived within the last 12 months or haven’t dived in temperate waters before, we recommend booking in for a Refresher Course first or you can book on to a day tour (for example the Guided Leafy Sea Dragon Tour) of which we can run the first dive as a Refresher Course if needed.
We have dived with the youngest kids all the way up to 70 year olds, so don’t think you need to be superfit to participate in this dive!
You have to be comfortable diving in temperate waters and be able to carry the equipment (including a tank and weights). Be prepared for a bit of a walk as the distance from the carpark to the entry point is a little over 250m.
All participants need to fill out a dive medical questionnaire before the dives. Simply follow the steps on the form to determine whether you will need medical clearance to dive with us. We recommend SPUMS Diving Dr Anne Sampson from Hallett Cove for dive medical (Mobile: 0418 803 250).
The minimum number of participants for us to run a guided night dive is just one, as we can run this tour as a private one-on-one dive!
The minimum age to do this dive with us is just 12 years old.
Whether you’re sick, got COVID19, need to isolate or can’t make the proposed course dates anymore, you can reschedule at any time up to 24 hours before the dive.
To reschedule, we will charge a small rescheduling fee of $25. As soon as a tour spot is booked, we reserve a company van and book in a dive guide for the night. The rescheduling fee will be used to cover his costs.
The main thing to remember is that we are going to get wet anyway, so if it rains a little that is totally fine.
However, we are of course dependent on the weather, with the wind and swell being the main factors that determine whether we can go diving safely. If the weather forecast predicts large swells or high winds, we may have to reschedule the dive to a different date. We always keep an eye on the weather forecast and will notify you beforehand if we expect this to be the case!
All dive gear can be included for this dive, including a tank and weights. We can also supply a primary and backup torch for the dive at no extra cost.
We do not offer discounts for bringing your own gear for the dive.
