Spend a week with us on our own private island in the heart of Indonesia! Crystal-clear waters, pristine coral reefs, spectacular marine life and 16 dives await at one of Southeast Asia’s last untouched island paradises.

Imagine waking up on a tiny private island in the middle of Indonesia, stepping outside into the tropical air and looking across the clearest blue waters towards jungle-covered islands with barely another boat in sight. That is the experience we’ll be chasing in the Togeans! Not just great diving, but a genuine feeling of being somewhere remote, beautiful and still largely untouched by mass tourism.
The Togean Islands sit deep inside the heart of the Coral Triangle, inside the Gulf of Tomini, surrounded by healthy reefs, white sandy beaches, turquoise lagoons and dense tropical jungle. Underwater, the scenery is just as impressive, with colourful coral gardens, walls and pinnacles alive with schooling reef fish, turtles, reef sharks, eagle rays, barracuda, bumphead parrotfish, Napoleon wrasse and an incredible variety of your typical Indonesian macro life.
What makes this trip special though is the setting. We’ll be based for seven nights at the famous Reconnect Resort on Buka Buka Island, with the island itself forming part of the adventure. Between dives there’s time to swim, snorkel, kayak, paddleboard, explore the shoreline or simply sit back with a drink and take in one of those places that feels a very long way from normal life.
We’ve included 16 guided dives across the week, including a Mandarin Fish sunset dive, giving us plenty of time to properly explore the stunning reefs in this region. Optional night dives and excursions further into the Togean archipelago will also be available for those who want to keep exploring after the scheduled diving is done.
The trip has been timed for late May, during one of the best periods of the year for the Togean Islands, when conditions are generally calmer and the islands are at their tropical best. Warm water, good visibility and sheltered seas make this a very comfortable destination to dive, while still feeling like a true remote expedition.
And somehow, despite how remote this place is, we’ve managed to keep the package at just $3,295. That includes one night in Bali, domestic flights, full board on the island, all transfers and 16 dives.
This is not a trip built around one famous dive site or one guaranteed animal encounter. It’s about spending a week in one of those places that still feels genuinely wild and beautiful on a private island with spectacular reefs and very few people and nothing much to do except dive, explore and enjoy where you are.

Return Airfares ex Denpasar (Bali) to Luwuk via Makassar are included.
We have chosen to fly in from Denpasar instead of from Adelaide, as Jetstar offers much better terms when privately booked compared to booking a group flight.
This also offers all divers the opportunity to add on a few nights in Bali before or after the trip to relax or dive some of the excellent sites surrounding the island.
Standard 25kg luggage allowance is included (additional luggage allowance can be purchased up to 50kg per person – subject to availability of course).

1 night accommodation at the Novotel Bali Airport Hotel is included on Monday, 24 May 2027, including breakfast.
The trip officially begins in Bali, allowing everyone to meet up before our early morning departure for the Togean Islands the following day
All transfers between Luwuk Airport an Reconnect Resort (Buka Buka Island) are included.
This is a substantial transfer that takes more than half a day and consists of a road and boat transfer.
The package includes 7 nights at the Reconnect Resort from 25 May to 1 June 2027.
A range of accommodation categories is available, including Glamping Huts, Pyramids, Beach Bungalows, Beach Villas and 2-Bedroom Villas.
Eat, sleep, dive, repeat is a great mantra for this expedition! On the island all coffee & tea as well as 3 gourmet meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) plus snacks are included.
A fantastic 16 guided dives are included throughout our stay!
The planned schedule consists of up to 3 dives per day from 26–31 May and includes a special Mandarin Fish sunset/night dive.

Besides tanks and weights, rental gear is not included in this trip. If you need any gear, we highly recommend to have a look at our online store or contact us to rent gear for the duration of the trip at a reduced rate.

Any dives outside the 16 dives included in the package will be billed separately. Any additional dive is IDR1,000,000 per dive (approximately A$100).
Trips further into the Togean Islands and surrounding areas are not included and may attract an additional fee or fuel surcharge.
We highly recommend taking out travel insurance as well as DAN diving insurance for this trip.
Any excess luggage fees can be prebooked with our travel agent beforehand or can be paid at the airport.
Accommodation after our return to Bali on 1 June is not included. The reason we have not included a post-night, is that there is a midnight flight from Bali back to Adelaide and most other Australian capital cities.

Surrounded by tropical jungle, white sandy beaches and clear blue water, this is exactly what attracted us to the Togeans in the first place! A beautiful little island far removed from Indonesia’s busy tourist destinations.
The Togean Islands are a remote archipelago in the Gulf of Tomini, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia, almost directly on the equator. Made up of around 56 islands and forming part of the Togean Islands National Park, this isolated corner of Indonesia remains far removed from the country’s major tourist routes.
Our home for the week is Buka Buka Island, a small tropical resort island at the gateway to the Togeans. Reconnect is the only resort on the island, surrounded by ocean, tropical vegetation and coral reefs, exactly the remote private-island setting we were looking for when putting this expedition together.
The isolation has helped preserve an impressive underwater environment. Reconnect describes 20+ dive sites around Buka Buka, ranging from shallow coral gardens to walls and pinnacles, with marine life including turtles, reef sharks, Napoleon wrasse, barracuda, eagle rays and huge numbers of tropical reef fish. Most of the local dive sites are short boat rides from the resort.
This is the kind of place you travel a long way to reach, and then wish you could stay just a little longer.
Why rush home when you’re already on Bali on the way in or on the way out?
There is no fixed Bali extension attached to this trip, so you’re free to build your own before or after the Togeans adventure. Stay a few extra nights, relax by the beach, explore the island or add more diving!
We particularly recommend adding a few days around Tulamben, or heading out to Manta Point for an iconic Bali diving experience.

We have specifically planned our trip for late May, one of the best periods of the year to visit and dive the Togeans!
April to November is the dry season at Buka Buka Island, bringing generally calmer seas and excellent underwater visibility, while May and June are regarded as the clearest period for diving.
Water temperatures in May stay at a very comfortable 28–30°C, making this a fantastic destination for long, relaxed tropical dives without the cooler conditions found in some other parts of Indonesia.
Visibility around the Togeans averages 30+ metres, and the sheltered location within the Gulf of Tomini means conditions around Buka Buka are generally calmer than many other Indonesian dive destinations.
Late May also puts us ahead of the busier European holiday period in July and August, giving us the chance to experience this remote archipelago while it still feels exactly the way we want it to: quiet, tropical and wonderfully far removed from the crowds.
For this trip, the attraction isn’t a single seasonal animal encounter. It’s being in the Togeans when the reefs, weather and island conditions all come together for exactly the kind of private-island diving adventure we’re looking for.
