Help the next generation of instructors achieve their dreams by becoming a PADI IDC Staff Instructor! As a Staff Instructor, you are qualified to teach PADI Assistant Instructors and can assist a PADI Course Director or run part of an Instructor Development Course!

The course will give you a greater insight into the PADI teaching philosophy and makes you a more valuable part of the dive team of any dive operation! It’s also a great way to gain in-depth knowledge of the instructor development process.

Prerequisites

Hold a current PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) certification
Hold proof of CPR and First Aid Training within the last 24 months

Course Structure

During the IDC Staff Instructor Course, you will join our resident PADI Course Director Bee on an Instructor Development Course (IDC). This is a great way to refresh your teaching practices, while having heaps of fun teaching the new generation of diving instructors!

You will have the opportunity to audit an entire IDC program and gain more valuable experience with evaluating, training and counselling instructor trainees.

Course duration: 1 day (or 2 nights) of classroom training before the IDC commences + a full IDC.

Rescheduling, Sickness & COVID19

Whether you’re sick, got COVID19, need to isolate, haven’t completed the PADI eLearning in time or can’t make the proposed course dates anymore, you can reschedule at any time before or during the course for any reason.

To reschedule, we will charge a rescheduling fee of $99. As soon as a course spot is booked, we reserve pool lanes and a company van, book in the instructor for all course dates and reserve the required gear and classrooms for your course. The rescheduling fee will be used to cover the costs.

The rescheduling fee only applies if we can’t find alternative dates for your course group. Usually we can simply reschedule one or two sessions to solve a short time issue like temporary sickness or a COVID19 case.

PADI eLearning

The theory for the PADI Instructor Development Course is delivered through PADI eLearning. The eLearning is included in the course fees.

Time Commitment

You will have 2 sessions with your Course Director before the PADI IDC starts and you will need to complete the PADI IDC Staff Instructor eLearning.

The PADI Instructor Dvelopment Courses usually take approximately 9 days to run. Most of the time we run the sessions on evenings and weekends and the schedule is flexible. Before the course, you will meet with your Course Director and the other participants to discuss the schedule and make small changes where required.

The PADI Instructor Exam is normally run on a weekend and takes 2 full days. but as an IDC Staff Instructor Candidate, the IE is optional.

No shows, cancellations and transfers

If you cancel your course on or within 7 days of the start date of the course, no refund will be given.
If you cancel your course 7+ days before the start date, a cancellation fee of $99 will apply. Please note the eLearning portion ($549) of this course is non-refundable.
If you fail to attend your course without notification, no refund will be given.
You may reschedule your course before the course starts at any time and for any reason (including sickness, not completing eLearning in time and COVID-19 related issues such as isolation). A $99 rescheduling fee will apply.
Clearance to dive by a SPUMS dive doctor will have to be provided at the start of the course (stating you are fit to dive unconditionally). Failure to do so will result in a $99 rescheduling fee.
You may transfer the course to someone else at no charge before the start of the course. Please note the eLearning portion of this course ($549) may be transferrable, but if already redeemed, will need to be purchased again.
All instructions are provided in English only. You are required to be proficient in English. Other students cannot translate on behalf of your instructor (no translation services can be used).
If you fail to complete the course during the scheduled times, a $99 rescheduling fee may be payable to sign up for another course at a later date. Please note there is a lot of flexibility in this course.
Failure to adhere to all of the pre-course requirements found on the course overview page (including completion of any online training) will result in cancellation of the course. No refund will be given and rebooking will be at full cost.
You need to be comfortable in the water and have dived in recent years. If you’re not comfortable in the water or are not sure, please contact us beforehand or book a Refresher Course first. Failure to do so may result in having to reschedule the course. A rescheduling fee of $99will apply.
Courses must be completed within 365 days of the original start date.
